Patchwork

Patchwork literary magazine is a labour of love that started as hand-stitched A5 pages and one typo, much to my dismay. The manifesto was circulated for soliciting submissions in December 2016, and since then we have established ourselves as a team of six editors, illustrators, and writers, committed to a print run of over 200. Patchwork has found itself on coffee tables in Scotland, England, Finland, America, India, and Singapore. The team shares a passion for electric literature and visual art – we are all now working adults, so Patchwork is on hiatus.

F*CK Victoria’s Secret

I studied the theories and processes of small press publishing in my third year at Warwick, with seminars led by Dr. Jonathan Skinner. Around the time, Ed Razek of Victoria’s Secret had publicly denounced all people with vaginas that did not squeeze into the conventional (re: Western) pigeonholes of beauty. F*CK Victoria’s Secret came about in January 2019 – a detailed, literary clap back at the propaganda of beauty sold by the lingerie giant. Download the PDF here.

I could not have had better leadership in my first foray into publishing than Brinda. She is consistently on-the-ball, led the whole show as the Chairperson with grace and constancy, and is an incredible writer to boot. Her prose is delicate, soul-aching, and timely in its explorations of the world of a WOC. I’m proud of the book we achieved through our collaboration and wait eagerly for all her publications still to come.

Brinda has a relentless desire to see creative visions through and a strong entrepreneurial mindset. She is a deeply talented project manager and in my experience working with her, she has shown herself to be highly proficient in coordinating a team of editors behind a single vision. She has a progressive and open mindset and uses her platform with wisdom and sensitivity. I felt empowered by her creative vision and proud to identify as a part of her project.
